The Blood of Dawnwalker Map: Vale Sangora Regions & Vampire Fiefdoms
The Blood of Dawnwalker is set entirely in Vale Sangora, a mountain valley in the Carpathians in 1349. It is deliberately compact and content-dense rather than sprawling, it is divided into fiefdoms held by four vampires, and it is revealed by exploration, tower climbs and story progress rather than unlocked all at once.
Vale Sangora at a glance
Who actually owns the valley
The map is not neutral ground. It is carved into fiefdoms, each held by one of Brencis's lieutenants, with the central city treated as collective territory rather than belonging to any single lord.
- Brencis holds the north-west and outranks the others. He is a former Roman senator, and his castle overlooks the central city, which is a polite way of saying nobody misbehaves.
- Ambrus holds the north-east.
- Bakir, from Central Asia, holds the south-west.
- Xanthe, originally from a remote Greek island, holds the south-east.
In practice that means the map doubles as a difficulty and danger map. Crossing into another lord's territory changes who patrols it, how quickly you attract attention, and how much the occupation interferes with whatever you are trying to do.
The regions you will learn first
Laslea Glen is the northern region where Coen is from and where his family's village sits. It is the prologue's ground, and the cheapest place to learn how segments are spent.
Briar Sluice sits just below the glen and is marsh and sluice country, so expect water, mud and slower ground.
Maragyer Wealds is forest, an area with very little civilisation in it and the kind of place that hides things rather than shows them.
Saint Tina's Grove lies south of the wealds. Saint Tina is one of the valley's two saints and was known as a healer who could cure any illness; the nuns who tended her grove largely died when the plague arrived.
Biomes, verticality and hidden layers
The developers have described swamps, forests, mountains, caves and mines inside one valley, and secret areas tied specifically to the vampires. There is also a realm layered over the map that Coen can enter through vampire abilities: promotional footage shows a red, spirit-haunted space rather than a normal location.
Verticality matters as much as width. The valley is mountainous, the city is built to be climbed, and traversal powers such as shadow stepping, plane shifting and sliding down cliffs are the intended shortcuts. A mountain that looks like a wall is usually a route once you have the right ability.
What the interactive map contains
The community-made interactive map for Vale Sangora exposes the actual density of the world rather than its size, and the landmark counts are the most useful number on the page:
- 93 shrines and 20 destroyed shrines
- 8 settlements and 16 buildings
- 11 towers and 1 gate
- 7 general stores and 6 blacksmiths
That is a lot of objectives packed into a valley that was deliberately kept small so it could stay dense. It also explains why tower climbs pay twice: they reveal terrain and feed the Bird's-Eye View achievement, while settlements feed Tour Guide Training.
Do not sweep icons early. Minor points of interest cost segments and give very little back until you have a build that ends fights quickly. Unlock the region, then farm it.
