The Blood of Dawnwalker PC Version: Steam, Denuvo and Performance
The Blood of Dawnwalker is available on PC through Steam, released September 3, 2026, with a DRM-free release on GOG as well. It runs on Unreal Engine 5 and shipped without Denuvo, which Rebel Wolves confirmed before launch, and it is the only platform with a modding scene.
PC version facts
Why the Denuvo detail matters
Former Witcher developers at Rebel Wolves confirmed the Steam version would launch without Denuvo anti-tamper. For PC players that has three practical consequences: no online check-in dependency, no measurable anti-tamper CPU overhead, and a build that stays predictable on hardware that would otherwise sit on the borderline of playable.
It also means the PC release behaves better on the Steam Deck than most modern AAA titles, and it is the reason a modding scene exists at all.
Getting a stable frame rate
Unreal Engine 5 titles lean heavily on upscaling, so the first lever to pull is your vendor's upscaler rather than a resolution cut.
Turn on upscaling
DLSS, FSR or XeSS depending on your GPU. This is the single biggest frame rate lever, and the published spec tiers assume you use it.
Cap the frame rate
A capped 60 with consistent frame times feels better here than an uncapped rate that swings between 80 and 110.
Watch VRAM
Community reporting points to memory as the limiting factor more often than raw compute, which matters most at 1440p and above.
Check the recommended specs
The requirement tiers are split between 1080p60, higher resolutions and a native 4K target, and they are not equivalent asks.
PC-only extras worth knowing
QuickSave is bound to holding the Menu or Options button on a controller, and a normal press opens the pause menu. Keyboard players can remap it, and mods can move it to a single hotkey.
Ultrawide support exists but initially black-barred cinematic moments. Mods now widen the frame to the full aspect ratio at 21:9 and 32:9 instead of cropping it.
Mods cover navigation, combat tuning, difficulty edicts, free flight and an anywhere-save. Several of the most popular ones need the UE4SS loader and a ~mods folder.
Key resellers list the standard edition well below the Steam price, which is why the official 69.99 USD is rarely what PC players actually pay.
Laptops and Steam Deck
There is no dedicated Steam Deck build, so compatibility depends on Proton and your settings. Reports of playable performance on high-end laptop GPUs are common, but the engine is demanding and upscaling is effectively mandatory on both. If you are planning to play handheld, budget for 30 FPS at low settings rather than the 60 FPS target the spec sheet quotes.
