The Blood of Dawnwalker Romance Options: Anca, Crake and Lacra

Updated 2026-09-26

There are three romanceable characters in The Blood of Dawnwalker: Anca, Crake and Lacra. You are not limited to one, and the system is forgiving, so you do not need to pick the perfect dialogue line every time. The reliable method is to complete each character's personal quests and flirt at every opportunity.

The three romance options

Anca is introduced in the prologue and is the most popular choice. Her chain is the easiest to keep on track because it starts before the valley opens up.

Crake leads the rebels, and you cannot interact with him at all until you join the manumits, so his route begins later.

Lacra is the only vrakhiri romance option, and she is also completely missable if you do not pick up her quest in Svartrau.

How the romance system works

The rules are simpler than most RPGs, and they are worth understanding before you plan a route.

  1. Flirt whenever the option appears. If a dialogue choice reads as flirting, take it. The system is forgiving, but consistent flirting is still the mechanism.
  2. Accept the intimate errands. Help removing armour, treating wounds, making tea: when a character asks, say yes. Several of the strongest flirt opportunities hide inside those small interactions.
  3. Finish that character's personal quests. The romance scene sits at the end of their chain, not in the middle of it.
  4. You do not have to choose. All three romances can be pursued in the same playthrough.

You do not need to hit the correct dialogue option 100 percent of the time. A few missed flirts will not lock you out, which is why the system is described as forgiving compared with other RPGs of this size.

What does and does not matter

One of the more useful findings from community route guides is how much choice does not matter. Several quests have dialogue branches that feel weighty but leave the romance untouched: the outcome choices in Anca's Echoes of Silenced Bells and Where Old Devils Lie, the handling of Crake's Where Loyalty Lies, and both the Uriashi captive situation and the Uriashi village approach in Lacra's chain.

What does matter is simpler: the quests happen, and you keep flirting.

Order of operations

1

Start with Anca

She appears in the prologue, so her chain is the easiest to keep on track and the cheapest to spend segments on early.

2

Do not miss A Friend Like This

Lacra is gated behind a specific quest in Svartrau. If you never pick it up, the route does not exist for that run.

3

Join the manumits for Crake

His route cannot begin before that, so treat the rebel storyline as his prerequisite rather than as optional content.

4

Keep a segment free near the end

Romance scenes tend to trigger after a late conversation. Arriving without a segment available is the most avoidable way to lose one.

Do romances change the ending

Not directly, but not irrelevant either. The finale accounts for which allies you recruited and how you treated the factions around them, and relationships feed into that web. A romance is one of the threads, not a switch, which is consistent with how the rest of the game treats commitment.

How many romance options are there?▾
Three: Anca, Crake and Lacra.
Can you romance more than one character?▾
Yes. You can romance all three in a single playthrough, and the game does not force you to commit to one.
Do dialogue choices matter?▾
They matter but the system is forgiving. Flirting consistently and completing personal quests is enough, even if you miss a few opportunities.
Which romance is easiest to start?▾
Anca's, because she is introduced in the prologue and her first quest arrives before the valley opens up.
Can you miss a romance entirely?▾
Yes. Lacra is missable because you have to complete the quest A Friend Like This in Svartrau to meet her at all.

Each route has its own quest chain and its own prerequisites.
